About Us

The Outside Las Vegas Foundation, a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, was formed in August 2000 to enhance the connections between people and the public lands in Southern Nevada. By helping to build collaborative systems, processes and partnerships that support better stewardship of public lands, the Foundation works to encourage citizens to look at the landscape in a more holistic manner and to enhance educational and recreational experiences for the visiting public.

The Outside Las Vegas Foundation's primary focus areas are connected trails and open space systems, conservation programs and outdoor education. The Foundation works with Southern Nevada citizens, the business community, educators, advocacy organizations and governmental entities to reach shared goals. The Foundation supports effective collaboration to solve important community issues regarding quality if life and stewardship of public lands in Southern Nevada.

The Outside Las Vegas Foundation was honored in October 2006 as one of only four organizations nationally to receive the prestigious Kodak American Greenway Award. The Greenway Awards are sponsored annually by the National Geographic Society, Eastman Kodak and The Conservation Fund to recognize outstanding achievement in creating and protecting the nation's network of open space, trails and greenways.

In receiving the Kodak Award, the Outside Las Vegas Foundation was recognized for a broad range of efforts to help build collaborative systems, structures, processes and partnerships that strengthen the stewardship of the public lands in Southern Nevada and enhance the educational and recreational experiences for the visiting public. The award nomination made particular note of the work the Outside Las Vegas Foundation does to help build an interconnected trail system of open spaces and trails that connect residential, civic, commercial and business landscapes to parks and recreational areas and facilities operated by federal, state and local units of government.
